Detailed information about the organizing societies

Chemical Research Society of India

The Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) was established in 1999 as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the country’s independence. Currently, CRSI represents more than 4000 lifetime members, who participate in the study, practice, teaching and promotion of Chemistry.  The main objectives of the CRSI are to recognize, promote and foster talent in Chemistry and Chemical Sciences and to improve the quality of Chemical Education at all levels. The CRSI organizes conferences, seminars, workshops, symposia and other related programs to facilitate and promote research in all branches of Chemistry. With a commitment to supporting young researchers, CRSI also provide awards, scholarships, and grants to recognize and encourage outstanding contributions to the field.

American Chemical Society

The American Chemical Society (ACS) is a nonprofit organization chartered by the U.S. Congress. ACS’ mission is to advance the broader chemistry enterprise and its practitioners for the benefit of Earth and all its people. The Society is a global leader in promoting excellence in science education and providing access to chemistry-related information and research through its multiple research solutions, peer-reviewed journals, scientific conferences, eBooks and weekly news periodical Chemical & Engineering News. ACS journals are among the most cited, most trusted and most read within the scientific literature; however, ACS itself does not conduct chemical research. As a leader in scientific information solutions, its CAS division partners with global innovators to accelerate breakthroughs by curating, connecting and analyzing the world’s scientific knowledge. ACS’ main offices are in Washington, D.C., and Columbus, Ohio.

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), founded in 1992-93 by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, is a premier educational institution in India. The university’s journey began in 1997 with the addition of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering, Management, and Computer Applications. By 2007, KIIT expanded to include schools in Law, Biotechnology, Medical Sciences, Nursing, and more. Today, KIIT educates around 40,000 students, including 2000 international students from 65 countries. It ranks in the 601-800 cohort in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2024, with top global rankings in Engineering and Computer Science. Accredited with an A++ grade by NAAC and ranked 16th by NIRF, KIIT has also been recognized as a top private university for innovation by AICTE. In sports, KIIT is home to 11 Olympians and has received numerous awards, including the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar 2022.

Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster Foundation

Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster (BCKIC) Foundation, an initiative by the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, is set up under the direction of the PM-STIAC to seamlessly connect research institutions, academia, industry and corporations towards the creation of a Hub & Spoke Model, actively facilitating innovation and knowledge creation.

History and purpose of the symposia

CRSI and ACS are jointly organizing an exclusive symposium for early career researchers, particularly PhD scholars, post-doctoral fellows and research associates, to showcase their research on all topics of chemical sciences. This event is being organized as a part of the 25th CRSI anniversary in 2024 . The 2-day symposium will feature only flash presentations, poster sessions and talks on best practices of publishing, ethics, AI in publishing and Career development. Special talks will be delivered by eminent scientists.

The aim is to bring international students to participate in ACS/CRSI events and support capacity building. It will extend invitations to researchers from students from South Asia and Africa to participate in the event. ACS will provide partial travel grants to international delegates to travel to India. The event will be run by PhD scholars. The poster and flash presentations will cover research themes from all branches of chemical sciences.
